Where do the hummingbirds go?
Where do the hummingbirds go? I watched these saws cut branches to make room for cars and roads and things and such. The birds stopped singing then. The silence fell differently. Like the pin didn’t drop, but remained suspended. As though the birds held their breath. It’s like they know something the rest don’t. I wonder if Mother Nature has become despondent. She doesn’t imbue herself with exhaustion for our antics any longer. She is simply empty of us. No longer willing to pour further. A silence that could only occur if a slingshot launches back far enough. I can’t say I have any qualms about that, nor would it matter. She gives us her womb and we take the birds song away.
