What do you tell yourself when you look in the mirror?
I heard a song about wanting to be saved once. Wouldn’t that be nice? To be saved. Salvation in the arms of another. Solitude found in a haven made just for you. I think that these pretty little lies only can go so far. I think the limitation that complicates it all is the 'someone else' that is cued to come along. What if they need saving themselves? What if they cower at your particular catastrophe but resolve all else? What if they don’t want to save you this time? All these uncertainties waning in and out, yet you still remain. Why is it that you feel like you need saving? What if you’ve always been equipped to conjure a way out? What if you’ve been destined for this fight, yet you walk away before you even discover the best part.
You
still
remain.
Who makes the call for the saving anyway? Who wipes the first tear from your eyes? Who breathes and lives as you?
I ask...
Who the hell told you to believe that you’re not good enough, not even for yourself?
