Spring isn't here without you

You remind me to get out of the house
You remind me that not all writers drink wine while gazing at their latest manifesto
You remind me that a house must feel like home

You remind me to open the blinds for sunshine
To not take myself so seriously
To keep moving forward
To run to the blooming daisies and dandelions that bestow the season’s emergence
To roll over setbacks

Wouldn’t this life be a bland, convoluted disarray of scenery
Wouldn’t this life look a lot like the black and white that is painfully separated
Like the dashes in the road
You remind me that each end is a new beginning, taking me somewhere

You remind me that heaven isn’t just a billowing light that pierces through sheer curtains
It opens doors to the horizon that changes with the times
As waves crash on the coast, the tide is pulled on the other
And in that duality, I find us
Growing
Our own journeys yet I find you again and again

I hope I remind you of things
I’ll never know
But that smile shows me how
