Old me

I don’t miss the old me
But I do thank her
For being lost in others
Only to discover herself in the sands of their despair
Lost in a succession of ocean waves
Drenched in melancholy kisses
Sweeter than the lies we tell ourselves
In every grain that pierces our souls
She rejoices as this feels like the sweet remembrance that was once lost
I thank her
For loving others more than herself
Because the tears she cried in her nights watered her flowers for the spring
Her body no longer shudders at the thought of those moments that come in cadence to visit her slumbers
She found light where there was none
The moon recalls her solemn cries and feels that they’ve ceased
The sun welcomes her anew
You have been dying for so long, my dear
You forgot what it was like to feel alive again
Where the trees dance upon your arrival
The hummingbirds gravitate closer, mistaking you for the sun’s light rays
It is at this moment, you are as radiant as your first daybreak
When the earth welcomed you with the breath of life
Dance
In true gratitude
